"I will wait outside," Rylan said, effectively excusing himself. He stepped out into the hallway and closed the door behind him.

Wren quickly changed into the dress, folding up her work clothes and leaving them in a chair. She walked out and smiled at Rylan. "I'm ready."

A smile broke out over his face. "You look lovely," he said. "Shall we?"

"Thank you," she said. "And, yes. Let's." She walked next to him, taking small, feminine steps.

As soon as they arrived, the servants brought the food out. Enough to two, for Rylan had prepared for her presence. If she hadn't agreed, he would have given the extra food away.

Wren gazed at him. "Thank you for inviting me," she said. "I appreciate it."

"I appreciate you accepting," Rylan told her. He pulled out a chair for her and gestured for her to sit.

She chuckled and sat in the chair, thanking him.

Rylan walked around to the other side of the table and took a seat. A moment later, two servants brought out their meal. A platter of fruit, bread and jam, and an omelet for each of them.

Wren looked excited about the food, but she waited for Rylan to begin eating.

Rylan began piling food onto his plate. He took mostly fruit, because he was a big fruit fan. Then he picked up his fork and took a bite of his omelet.

Rylan ate in silence. He wasn't really one for table small talk, so he had no idea what to say. He rarely had people to sit with during meals.

When Rylan was full, he sat quietly and waited for Wren to finish eating.
