"That's not the way life works around here, sweetheart," he replied, bitterness seeping into his voice, "the world makes up its rules as it goes along." At her question, he gave a shrug. "My line of work requires me to be on guard, ready for anything to spring up."

" So you can't relax at all?" She tilts her head and frowns," I guess i can relate..." She glances around the fields, frowning deeply and palming her eyes

He gave a sharp laugh. "That's one way of looking at it. By the time I actually start to relax, there's already someone who needs my help." He gave her a look, almost like he was laughing at her. "I highly doubt you do know this feeling, you live in a posche life, you have nothing to fear."

" Nothing to fear?" She smiles and hugs the puppy, the small dog having fallen asleep in her arms," What about the assassinations? You know how many times people tried to poison us? How many kidnap attempts there have been on me alone? Look-" she pulls her shoulder down to show some nasty looking scars," Someone tried to kill my big bro so I had to stop them... And I have nothing to fear..?

"But you forget, you have many guards at your beck and call. Why you would risk your own life instead of shouting for a guard is beyond me. I'm on my own, you have your whole family behind you." While he spoke, surprisingly there wasn't a hint of bitterness in his voice, he was merely stating a fact.

" But you had someone once," she chirps, suddenly holding out the sleeping dog to him," You can have Crow for a bit, he'll be your family," the puppy twitches but sleeps like a rock

"Yeah well, I have no idea where she is. So I'm left alone again, aren't I?" As she held the dog up to him, he wrinkled his nose. "Right, that's a great substitute for family," he muttered.

" Take him or i'm gonna make you take him," Ari chirps and sighs, frowning," You'll find her, i bet,"

"Sure, I'm positive forcing it on me will help," he muttered. At her hope, he shrugged it away. "I don't need your pity, I know I'll find her."

" It's not pity, it's encouragement you sad prick," she grunts and places the puppy over his choulder, the tiny puppy wakes up and looks at him with a confused look

"Right, like I need your encouragement," he muttered. As the dog was laid on his shoulder, he gave her a glare and picked the black dog off of his shoulder, handing it off to Ari again.

The puppy wriggles jn her grip and nestles in her arms, Ari kisses the puppy

"See, you keep 'em. It seems to like you more," he pointed out.

Ari looks at him then chirps," Well... Why does this Lady want me?" Looking slightly annoyed

He gave her a shrug. "He** if I knew. Like I said, she never told me, she just said she wanted you."

Creepy... So where is she? North, South, East West? Blah?"

"Listen, I can barely tell which direction we're in right now, but I'll know if we're on the right track. Call it male intuition," he replied.

" Male intuition? Whoever your lady is, I bet she's a saint," she chirps, humming softly

He rolled his eyes and took a deep breath. Almost done. Almost done, then he could go search for her. All he needed to do was survive a day with this...woman and then it would be all done. How hard could that be?
