When Chase got into the car, the woman gave him a peck on the cheek, then they drove off his smile never faltering.

Sapphire gaped after them long after the car had disappeared. Then she shook her head, telling herself her imagination was running away from her.

A few hours passed and Chase was at the woman's house, sitting on the couch. He leaned over to grab the house phone and punched in the number Sapphire gave him, he stared at the tv as it rang.

Sapphire, back at home, dug out her phone when she heard it ringing. She didn't recognize the number on the screen, since he wasn't in her phone and she'd never seen his phone number. "Hello?" she said.

"Hey. It's Chase." he said casually.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Chase, hi!" Sapphire said, trying not to sound too eager. "What's up?"

"You want to come over to my house for dinner tonight?" he asked.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Dinner?" Sapphire repeated, sounding a little confused. That was not the question she'd be expecting from a boy like Chase Larkin. More 'want to go to a movie with me?' which mean 'want to sit at the back of a dark theater and make out?' But dinner? At his house? It was just plain strange.

"Unless you're busy." he shrugged though she couldn't see him.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"N-no," Sapphire said quickly. "I'm not. What time?"

"Come at 7." which was in just an hour. "See you soon." and with that he hung up.

"Bye..." Sapphire murmured, even though he'd already hung up. Could her life get any stranger than this?

Chase walked into the kitchen and leaned against the counter "I invited someone over for dinner." he murmured.

"A girl?" the woman asked with a grin.

Chase couldn't help but grin as well, "Maybe."

Sapphire went to the bathroom to take a shower. When she got out, she blowdried her hair and applied her makeup the way she always did. She wanted to look nice tonight, but natural.

Chase just finished cleaning his room and was barely about to hop in the shower.

Sapphire took a deep breath before grabbing her purse and heading out the door. She was dressed in a blue top that matched her eyes, and a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, along with cute black flats.

Chase yelled out the bathroom door "Just tell her to go to my room when she gets here." before hopping in the shower.

The woman just shook her head with a small smile.

Sapphire pulled up outside his house and got out of the car. She studied the house for a second, taking it all in, before walking toward the door. She knocked hesitantly, and then twice more with a firmer fist.

The woman from earlier opened the door with a big warm smile, her hair now pulled back into a small ponytail and she wore a kitchen apron, "Hi. Sapphire I presume?" she leaned forward to hug the girl.

Sapphire shied away from the embrace, but she was too slow and the woman got her arms around her. Who was this lady, anyway. "Uh... yeah," she said, standing there awkwardly and waiting for the woman to release her.
