Nala snorted and rolled her eyes. "I asked you first buddy," she replied, frowning at him. "It makes a girl worried if a mysterious man is at her house."
Nala harumphed, though said nothing in return. She walked past him and into the kitchen, grabbing a cup from the cupboard and filled it with water. She took a sip and leaned against the counter, eyeing him warily, before saying, "You never answered my question. Who are you?"
Nala nodded, slowly understanding. She set the glass down on the counter and ran her finger on the rim of the glass, staring at it as she replied, "Just a girl Kia saved on the streets." She shrugged as she continued, "I'll probably be leaving as soon as I have enough money to sustain myself."
Nala stood up and cocked her head to the side. "You in the same position?" She asked, hesitantly walking closer to him, like she was nervous around him.
Nala thinly smiled and nodded slightly. "Guess you're right," she agreed, turning around and heading to the cupboard again. She glanced behind him and asked, "You want anything? Though it seems like you've been here for a while, it would be rude of me to eat in front of you without asking if you wanted anything."
Nala shrugged, before turning back. "Suit yourself." She grabbed down a box of crackers and shook them onto a plate. Grabbing the plate, she walked to the table and sat down, putting her feet up on another chair. As she ate, she glanced up at him and frowned slightly. "Come sit, I feel wary around people if they're standing when I'm sitting," she said, flecks of crackers falling to the table.
She ate in silence for a couple of moments, unaware that he was staring at her. Though she finally noticed and her eyebrows furrowed. "Why're you staring at me?" She asked.
She stared at him, looking a little stunned. Though the surprise melted into wariness as she studied him. "I thought you were gay," she said, acting like he was ruining something for her.
"Just wondering," she easily said, glancing back at her plate and popping a few crackers into her mouth. As she ate, Nala studied the other guy and suddenly asked, "What's it like, making out with girls and guys?" There was a real note of curiosity in her voice, as if she truly wanted to know.
