"You know it," Taryn laughed as she jogged to catch up so she wasn't being dragged. "The world revolves around us!"

Allie laughed with her friend, shaking her head "If you say so." Allie stopped in front of the door and knocked, not wanting to be rude. Even though it was a party!

Davis Knight answered the door and grinned when he saw them. "And the princess arrives," he said, nodding to Taryn. Everyone at the school knew who she was. "Come on in."

"Hmpf." Allie made the displeased sound followed by crossing her arms, she followed her friend in.

Taryn flashed the younger boy a smile before entering the house. They were immediately assaulted by blaring music and a pounding base drum.

Allie surveyed the house, holding Taryn by the wrist so she wouldn't lose her.

"Let's dance!" Taryn said. Of course that was the first thought in her mind after arriving.

Allie just smiled and followed her friend into the thick of people.

Taryn moved her body to the music, breaking out her best moves. When someone offered her a red cup, she turned it down. She has a strict no-alcohol policy.

(So I was thinking something could happen to make her drink. Like maybe her boyfriend breaks up with her.)

A tall good looking guy with blonde hair and hazel eyes walked over to the two girls, he had a killer smile and muscular arms "Hey Taryn." he said hugging her and kissing her forehead.

Allie flashed him a friendly smile, she didn't dislike the guy but she didn't like him either. It was just something about him.

Taryn smiled and leaned into him. "Duncan," she said. "Fancy seeing you here."

Duncan grinned "I expected to catch you around this time." with all his expressions and smiles and what not it'd seem that he had no remorse for what he was about to do, "Well I actually wanted to talk to you. College is a lot different from high school. I'm not so sure we're compatible anymore." he shrugged. "I gotta get going soon too by the way, I only came to talk to you."

Taryn's smile dropped off her face when she realized the implications of those words. 'I'm not so sure we're compatible anymore.' "Are you... are you breaking up with me?" she asked disbelievingly. She wasn't one of those girls who believe she was all that and no guy could possibly want to break up with her, but... well, no one ever had. Besides, she thought that Duncan and her were forever! She'd thought they were in love. Clearly, he had other ideas.

"Well, yeah." he nodded with a frown. "I love you Taryn but it's just teenage love, you didn't think we were going to get married and have kids did you?" he asked laying a hand gently on her cheek "I'm sorry. You'll find someone else I'm sure." he tried to be reassuring but those words probably didn't help much, "We can still be friends though." ah the famous line that never really came true.

Taryn flinched away from his touch. Then she laughed and shoved him away. "In your dreams, a**hole," she snapped. "Go enjoy your high-and-mighty college life on your own."

Duncan had always been easily angered, and a**hole was definitely the right word to describe him, "Whatever. I cheated on you by the way." he sneered then turned and disappeared into the crowd of people.

Allie watched him go mouth open and eyes wide, "Taryn.." she said softly averting her gaze to her friend "I'm so sorry."

Taryn stood there, looking like she'd been slapped. She would have never, NEVER, expected that of him. She's completely misjudged him, apparently. "Just leave me alone," she said, turning away from her best friend for the first time in her life and walking over to get something to drink. And for another first, she took a plastic cup full of beer.

Allie felt hurt and wasn't sure what to do. She didn't want to pester her. Maybe she'd give her time to cool down. So she wandered off looking a bit out of it and not in the mood to dance. The glass door opened and she slipped outside and sat by the pool.

At the first sip, Taryn nearly choked at the flavor. Soon, though, she was downing gulps with little difficulty. Other people at the party, upon realizing that the notoriously sober Taryn was drinking, started cheering her on as she chugged the alcohol. She paid them little attention.

If Allie had seen Taryn drinking she would of stopped her no matter what she said, but instead she was out by the pool conversing with people being her usual friendly self.
