"If he wanted to help me, he could have taken me back to civilization," she said, her temper rising again.

"His methods are unusual yes, but there is always a reason for what he does."

"Well, I'd very much like to meet him officially," Bella said. If she was going to be stuck here, she might as well get to know her 'host.'

"How about tomorrow?"

"I suppose I have no choice," Bella said. She went back to eating, not feeling like talking anymore.

Lumiere frowned and backed off, allowing her to eat

When dinner was over, Bella thanked them and retreated to her room. She was tempted to explore the rest of the house, but figured it was a bad idea. She didn't want to piss off her 'host.'

Once she returned, the wardrobe smiled happily. "How was dinner?"

"It was good," Bella said absently as she sat down on the bed. "Bizarre, but good."

[Grayzers]

"Lumiere has a way of making dinners excessive."

Bella smiled faintly. "So it wasn't just me."

[Grayzers]

The wardrobe smiled, "no dear. But he has always been that way. It's what he lives for."

Bella stood up and walked to the small window. She looked outside, her face thoughtful. Then she turned back to the wardrobe. "What was he like?" she asked. "Your master. Before the... the curse."

[Grayzers]

She sighed as if it made her sad to think of such times. "He was a very kind man when it came to his employees. He treated us all like family. He still does. But he was also full of himself and believed himself to be better than whoever didn't live in his castle. He was very handsome and rich and was raised to be such a thing by his parents. Though I've never met such a gentle man. He took care of any of us when we were sick or injured."

"What happened?" Bella asked. "Why was he cursed?"

[Grayzers]

"Well you see... a peasant woman came to the castle one night during a grand party. All of the nobility and wealthy were present. Master opened the door and told the woman she could not come in. She begged him because it was raining and very cold, and she only wanted shelter until the storm passed. She offered him a rose in exchange but he still said no for fear of being embarrassed. The woman turned on him, transforming into a beautiful witch. She cursed him for his unsympathetic heart and he retreated into the darkest parts of the castle, thinking himself hideous. And he never threw another party, banquet or ball. He never spoke to anyone again."

"Until he brought me here," Bella said.
