"Very well." She raised her brows at him and frowned softly before continuing to eat. "You know, Jacob... I went home, and... You know what. Never-mind."
She slid onto the log beside him and felt her lips curl into a small smile.
"I went back home, and... I was allowed to stay. The scientists have been defeated, Jacob, but they always keep coming. I had to leave home, and now I'm... Banned, for lack of a better word, from coming back until I have earned a certain amount of magic. And magic is created between two people, not because of love or anything like that. But... It takes two people to make magic. It doesn't work with Aqua, not even when he's in human form."
"That's not true, Jacob." She frowned at him, turned away and felt her control slip. she had changed a lot in the past month. "Did you forget about your fire powers?"
"Nor do I, Jacob, if I am to be frank. No Daragonian has ever been bonded with a dragon, nor been gifted with powers such as mine." She smiled slightly. "Which means I need to gain a certain amount of magic before I can return home. I've missed it, and I've missed companionship."
"I do need you, Jacob." She gripped one of his hands in both of hers and frowned. Shook her head and muttered, "You are... Magic. Whether you believe it or not, Daragonian blood runs through your veins."
"They lied. They told me the same thing, because I was young and not as smart as I am now. They lied, Jacob." She gripped his hands harder, more firmly. "I can prove it to you. Just come with my to the sky-bound Daragon and meet... A friend."
His father. His mother. His young sister who was scarcely older than Elena had been when she had been abducted.
"A man named Jonathon. He knows all about this type of thing."
Jacob's father was, in all reality, a close friend of Elena's. On her visit back, she had been put through the ancient High Priestess ritual and had claimed the formal title, so everyone was a friend. He was in her Queen's Court, though, so it was different for them.
"Please, then with. You will know everything that I believe is truth." She didn't phrase it like she knew everything - Elena was smart, yes, but not all-knowing. She wouldn't delude either one of them. "Whether you believe it's truth or not is your decision entirely."
