The prince led his bride down the isle, tucking his arm around hers. He waved at the crowd, not even taking one look at his new bride. He knew that the two would never truly love each other, though that was to be expected. There was going to be love affairs in their horizon.
The princess, whose name was Julia, walked slowly with her husband. They passed the servants and Alianna watched them go. After they were through the doors, she followed swiftly as she was the prince's newest personal servant.
Alianna knocked on the prince's door the next morning, waiting for him to allow her to enter. She could imagine what kind of state the room would be in, as last night had been the bridal night.
The prince slowly sat up, half naked, and groaned, putting a hand to his forehead. He glanced around, blearily trying to see if his bride had stayed the whole night. He could remember bits and pieces of it, though it wasn't enough. "Come in," he called out, his head throbbing.
The girl was sleeping with her back to him, having not awoken yet. It had all been a traumatic experience for her.
Alianna walked in and curtsied, almost getting used to the idea of seeing the prince naked. "Good morning, Your Grace. You are expected in an hour for brunch with your mother and father with your new wife."
The prince let out a groan, waving his hand for her to quiet. "Got it...what time is it right now?" He asked, trying to focus on her, without having a million of her swarming his sight.
Abaet sighed and flopped back down on the bed, the world spinning. "Alright, alright, do what you want," he said, pressing a hand to his head, sighing a little.
The girl had actually heard this conversation and she got up, taking one blanket with her. "Servant girl!" she whispered. Alianna turned around. "Yes, my lady?" The girl hesitated. "Will you help me bathe and dress myself?"
Abaet raised his head slightly, eyebrows raising, though said nothing of it. If his wife wanted to bathe, then so be it. He laid back down again, squeezing his eyes, wishing the world would stop spinning.
The servant nodded. "Of course." She grabbed a robe from the wardrobe in the room and put it on the lady. She led her out and next door to the private bathroom.
Abaet waited, shifting in his bed. He had expected things to go a little smoother than they had; perhaps she could have liked him. Though it seemed like nothing had worked. Deep down, he didn't blame her, this was an unjust way of doing things. He would never admit that aloud though.
Alianna led the lady down to the dining room where she found the queen, king, and prince. She sat her down in her proper seat next to her husband and then stood in the corner, watching to make sure everything went smoothly.
Abaet stood as his wife walked in, dipping his head to her in a greeting. He settled down as soon as she sat, putting a napkin over his lap. "Princess Julia, it's so wonderful for you to be dining with us," the queen said, trying to keep the silence at bay. "Please, tell us if there is anything that will make your stay here more enjoyable."
Abaet reached for his wife's hand and gave it a small squeeze, not bothering to look at her. The queen smiled slightly at the princess, though looked away as the servants flooded into the room, laying down multiple trays full of food.
