Unlike his bride, Abaet seemed to have his appetite. Though he ate as calmly as he could, there was a sort of hungry look to his eyes as he watched the food.
The queen noticed this and slowly set down her utensil. Frowning, she patted her lip with her napkin, before asking, "Is everything fit to your need, my dear? Do you not like what's being served? I would be more than happy to have a servant get something you'd like from the kitchen."
She tilted her head at her, a small spark of realization flashing in her eyes. "Ah...I see. Is your stomach queasy as well?" She asked, frowning at Abaet, who gave her a confused look.
Three days after the wedding, Alianna was looking around the library for a map. She had already finished her duties and was spending her free time figuring out where she was.
A finger tapped on her shoulder, there stood Serena, looking quite frazzled. "Do you mind if I hide in here? Killigan is watching me like a hawk, I think he's starting to suspect us," she managed to squeak out, her eyes wide.
Alianna smiled and nodded. "Of course, Rose. I feel so terrible for that young bride of the prince- she seems terrified of him. She can hardly stand the thought of sleeping with him!"
Serena managed a small smile and sat down beside Alianna. "Mm, I haven't gotten to see her; I've been cooped up downstairs in the kitchen," she said and leaned against a bookcase, completely exhausted.
"How has that been?" she asked, looking over a yellowed piece of parchment that served as a map of the surrounding kingdoms of the kingdom they were in.
Serena groaned and rubbed her forehead. "Hot, sweaty, and exhausting. Need I go any further?" She asked dryly, returning to her usual self for the moment.
"We could use our access to this castle's resources to our advantage- but we would have to save up some food if we are going to make a hasty escape. We'll save some food from our meals this week and then we can take some horses and ride back home."
Serena let out a sigh. "If we can get past the guards," she pointed out, "this is just a small theory, though I think they'll be watching over us even closer now."
