(Hmmm...that could work. I was thinking PERHAPS, and this is a huge perhaps, that Threuss have a small idea of magic; he can conjure up the basics of the spells, as he has been "training".)
Though there wasn't going to be another distraction; it was an assault. It seemed as though the number of men doubled in the shadows, even though there were only seven people attacking the five. It was a good plan; the soldiers would stomp there feet intermittently together, the sounds echoing everywhere, seeming like they were multiplying as the seconds ticked by. Though they looked ridiculous doing so, small knives whistled in the air, startling the five who had been waiting around bored.
The soldier glared at her, irritated that she was trying to "steal" his job. He flicked his hand, motioning for two guys to go on ahead, as if he wanted to irritate her. Though the yell from Alianna had caught Threuss' attention, his eyes narrowing as he tried to peer into the darkness. He was startled from his thoughts, when the seven soldiers sprang form their hiding places and started slashing through the attackers.
(Thank you, I'm thinking that perhaps not; it sounds a little odd for a man to be practicing magic when it was almost taboo back in Aquos.)
Alianna growled and decided to go ahead and attack. She conjured two flames, one in each hand, and ran towards Threuss. "Hey, b*stard! Miss me?" she said only loud enough for him to hear. She shot two flames at him, keeping them quite steady and hot as possible.
Threuss glanced around, his eyes focusing on the figure running towards him. A maniacal grin spread across his face. Alianna. Perfect. As she threw the fireballs at him, he ducked, the two singing his hair, almost touching his scalp. "Ah, my dear, how have you been?" He called, his voice calm, as if they weren't fighting one another, "I've been worried about you, when I couldn't find you or your servant, I thought that you had died."
He grinned and jumped out of the way of the fireball, it burning a mark into the wall behind him. He whistled, looking impressed. "My dear, you must be careful, who knows who will see you and what they will do to you, once they find out what you can do," Threuss scolded, tsking her.
He ducked, seeming to be doing a lot of that lately. He put on a larger smile. "Honestly, we have to work on your temper," he said, letting out a soft sigh.
He tilted his head, frowning at her. "I take offense to that," he said, sliding to the side, almost dancing as he did so, "there is more than one way in winning a war; fighting head on is not the most ideal way."
He let out a sad sigh, sounding remorseful. "Honestly, my dear, did it really have to come to this?" He waved his hand in the air, a tranluscent and small shield appearing. It was a weak attempt to stop the attack and it almost didn't work in shielding him.
He frowned, looking wounded. "I've been called many things, though that, my princess, hurt my soul." He snapped his fingers and a guard rushed her, grabbing her arms and yanking her backwards.
He raised his arms, a large grin on his face. "Quite the contrary; I am intelligent in using others to do my fighting. This is how you show your power, m'dear."
"Cowardice." She flung several large fires at him, the last being the hottest and most powerful. She kept this one going, knowing that his shield couldn't last forever.
He shook his head, his mouth turning into a thin line. "When you use magic, you yourself are not fighting, you're having the elements fight for you; aren't you a hypocrite for saying that?" he asked mildly, raising his arm in a flourish. The ground started to rumble and a hand poked its way out of it. A tall skeleton made its way to the surface, its bones rattling and shaking. Threuss' forehead slowly became slick with sweat, as he clenched his jaw in concentration. "You have your soldiers fight for you, to win wars, while you sit around, trying on pretty little dresses. Is that not cowardice?" He demanded, flicking his wrist. The skeleton bobbed and weaved its way into the fireball, taking the hits for his master.
