"But I am making the elements do what I bid," she hissed. She spun her finger around, gathering the moisture from the air and sending a jet of water at the fireball. This made a cloud of scorching steam that would surely at least burn the man.
"You yourself are not fighting though," he said patiently, talking slowly as if he was speaking to a little child. He sucked in a breath of air as the steam hit him and flinched from it, though forced himself to not take a step back; any movement would giver her the advantage. "You are controlling the elements, yes, though you are not the element yourself."
Alianna gave a mirthless laugh and summoned many rocks around her body, also gathering looks from the soldiers fighting. "Am I not?" She rushed towards him with a laugh and punched at his face.
He grabbed her hand, grimacing as it burned from the pain of her inertia. "Putting rocks around yourself is not helping your case," he said, shaking his head in disappointment. He brought his knee towards her stomach, trying to catch her off guard.
He let out a strangled yelp as he tumbled to the ground. Grimacing, he laid through for a few moments, a little stunned. Though Threuss back-flipped to his feet again, sucking in a breath through his clenched teeth. He was getting a little too old for this..
"You seem to think that I will give up that easily," he said, forcing his voice to not croak. He slashed his hand through the air, a small protective bubble slowly growing around him. As the fireballs hit the bubble, they would burn into the barrier, scorching the orb.
As she was closer to him, the fireballs were much hotter. She glared and began blowing a great wind at him, moving him slowly, inch after inch, towards the door.
He suddenly flung his hand in the air, the ground slowly rumbling. A small tower of rock broke its way through the floor, giving him at least some shelter from the wind. "You are letting your emotions get the best of you, that is never good," he called over the howling winds.
"Leave this place and never return, Threuss." She gestured about her- all but one of his men was dead and the one that wasn't was being held by a soldier. They were all looking at them. "You have lost! Go back to where you came from and never return!"
He got to his feet, eyeing the soldiers with mild interest. "You do know who I was, when I was in your father's court, correct? I was his adviser for his colonel. I understand the ins and outs of most wars and the most common one, is always bring more soldiers." He then glanced at the one being held, looking a little bored. "My dear, you need to stop acting so high and mighty, it really doesn't suit you," he said, sighing. He dipped his head to her, a sickly smile appearing. "Though I will retreat for now, you need to keep believing that you actually win against me," he mused, "though next time, don't be so rash." Threuss gave a sweeping bow, before a cloud of smoke erupted from where he stood. As the smoke cleared, he was gone, leaving one of his men behind.
Alianna glared at him but when he disappeared, she immediately slumped to the ground, exhausted. She had never used so much negative, offensive magic so quickly in such a short amount of time. She pressed a hand to her forehead and looked around at the soldiers. "Somebody go and check on the king and queen. Another one of you untie the prince and princess.
Princess Julia had watched in amazement while Alianna had battled Threuss and now sat in utter shock next to her husband.
A hand suddenly appeared on her shoulder. "M'lady, we must get you some rest," Serena murmured, starting to pull her away. As she spoke the soldiers divided themselves up, some going off to the king and queen while the others went to bury the dead.
Alianna patted Serena's hand and stood shakily. "Thank you," she said. She looked around and then went to the prince and princess. She took out her knife and cut the rope. Princess Julia stood and looked at her in wonder. "You're a Mage?"
Serena hurried over to the two, eager to do something. She started to slowly untie the knote around the two and nodded. "That's right, though you can't tell anyone; who knows what'll happen," her servant said, frowning.
Serena shook her head, dismissing the soldiers with a flick of her hand. "I'm not talking about them, I'm talking about the others, your parents, court, family, friends, anyone."
Julia looked at her husband and then back at Serena. "I don't think you understand- we revere mages in this country. They are considered the highest rank in society under the kings family."
Serena's frown grew. "Do you really think that every single town or city think so? You are constantly visited by other officials from other courts. If you tell youe kingdom it'll spread like wild fire once the officials come by."
