"S***! You idiot, grab her," Serac snarled, pulling the limp body of the servant. In response, one of the soldiers grabbed her, the other one muttering words under his breath in pain. The soldier that held her, grabbed the cloth from the wounded soldier and pressed the cloth to her mouth again. "Just relax doll, don't struggle and this'll all go easier," he hissed in her ear. "We don't want to hurt you, we were told not to harm and inch on you."
Alianna struggled for a bit longer before she felt the effects of the chemical get to her. Slipping in and out of consciousness the girl saw Serena and whispered, "I'm sorry..." before passing out and slumping to the ground.
"Come on, let's get out of here, before we get spotted," Serac said, nodding to the other soldier to climb down the rope. The soldier sent a glare at Alianna, shaking his hand and muttering more words. He climbed down the rope halfway, holding his arm, which was not holding the rope. Serac climbed down the rope, before slowly dropping the servant into the soldier's arm. The two climbed down together, the soldier heading back up to do the same with Alianna's body. Finally, all five were at the bottom, the two soldier's hefting the woman's limp bodies over their shoulders. "Alright men, move out," Serac commanded, his smile growing. -- As the next day rose, Alianna and Serena were tied to a pole, their wrists tied together and to the pole. There were inside a small tent, candles on large golden candle holders were set up in a square around them. Shapes moved outside the tent, angry voices almost shouting at one another.
Alianna groaned softly, her head feeling as though it was splitting open. She slowly opened her eyes, then widening them in fear when she realized that she wasn't at home. She steuggled against her bounds, realizing that Serena was still with her. "Serena!" she whispered, hitting the other girls shoulder with her own. "Serena, wake up!"
Her servant jolted awake, at the touch of Aliana. She let out a groan, her head throbbing as she blinked her eyes, trying to clear the blurry images. "Where are we?" Serena murmured, glancing around the room blearily, exhaustion clouding her mind.
The flap flew open, a tall man entering in. His black hair swept back, his dark green eyes flickering over the two, before zeroing in on Aliana. His head tilted to the side, a thin smile appearing on his mouth. "Ah, princess, such a pleasure for you to join us," he said, his voice tilted with a foreign accent, as he walked up to her. He lifted her chin, the smile becoming a smirk. "I hope you do remember me, it would hurt my feelings if you didn't.
Alianna gasped as the man came in, having never let a man see her in her nightclothes which she was still in. She tried to take her chin away as he lifted it, her stringy blonde hair getting in her face in the process. "Who are you and where are we?" she asked fearfully.
The man frowned and let go of his grip, taking a small step back. "So you don't remember me, what a shame," he sighed. He stalked around the two, his hands behind his back, as he talked, "I'm sure you remember the Great War, between Aquos and Saoles, correct?" He stopped and turned on his heel, taking a small step forward, his frown growing. "Am I correct?"
The man clenched his jaw, trying hard not to role his eyes. How naive. Isn't there anything that they teach back at the castle. "It has almost everything to do with this," he hissed, jabbing the air with every word. "Tell me, has your father ever talked about the noble Threuss?" He demanded, his mouth pressed in a thin line.
Alianna watched the man carefully, her blue eyes not showing any emotion until the man mentioned Threuss. "He was a lying, traitorous dog that betrayed his country," the girl said fiercely, once again straining against her bonds. She had forgotten all about her talent with elemental magic.
A wide grin crossed his face, a hint of feral in his eyes. "Ah, that's where you're wrong. A genius he was, an idealist some would say. He was the best of the best, though he was shut down by the king; his ideas tossed to the wind, because they didn't fit the usual," he said, his voice growing louder with each sentence, a sort of mad expression crossing his face. "He planned on using Saoles as an alley, to show the king what he could do. Though, it ended poorly, Threuss had forgotten about the mages of Aquos," his voice became hoarse, the fire in his eyes dying instantly.
"He should have followed the laws that my father put down for the good of his country," Alianna argued angrily. "He should have accepted what was right instead of betraying my father's trust! Saoles is not to be trusted in times of war!"
The man turned on her sharply, his energy sparking once more. "'The good of his country', how cute," he sneered, stalking towards her. "The good of his country would have been trying to get more land, to claim that he was the strongest. If he keeps up like this, his people will revolt; he's too weak to be the king any more."
"How dare you insult my father, you filthy dog!" the girl exploded, now trying desperately to get out of the bonds to get at him and possibly strangle him. "How dare you!"
His lip curled at her, taking a step back, like she was a disgusting animal. "Mindless behavior," he muttered, half to himself. In a louder voice, he asked, "Tell me, do you always follow after your father without a second thought? Don't you ever think that he's messing up somehow, making a little slip?"
"He has always tried to keep me safe! I am shocked you would even suggest that he is anything less than adequate at running our kingdom! Whoever you are, my capture put aside, you will be punished for treason!"
He let out a sharp laugh, his head lifted. "My dear, I have already been casted aside for treason, there is nothing else they can do to me," the man said, in an almost wistful, dreamlike voice.
The man shook his head, almost laughing at her question. "Haven't you figured it out, I'm surprised it took you this long," he chuckled, almost sympathetic. "I am the noble Threuss, cursed to walk this land, without a permanent home. Ironic that with my dreams of making everything and everyone have the same rule, I have no one," he said, a sad smile on his face.
Alianna flinched and hung her head. Surely there was no way out now... But wait! there was! Alianna looked up at him, a new-found fierceness in her eyes. "You will regret ever messing with the royal line of Aquos."
