Serena glared at Alianna, irritation spiking in her stomach. "My life is in your hands, I won't be sitting here, waiting for the bandits to come and get me! I feel like we're sitting ducks, just waiting to be shot," she grumbled, hugging herself.
"Then you're a coward," Alianna growled, finally coming up with an idea. She stood and reinforced the house's walls with another then began to create a maze to get to them. She could hear the men that were pursuing them yelling in frustration when the labyrinth caught them. The entrance had closed behind them and Alianna nodded. "Lets go," she muttered, opening the house up and trotting out. She opened up an outwardly wall to the forest and led her servant into the trees. "We'll be Sge here."
"There is a difference between being a coward and knowing your chances of survival," Serena hissed back, stalking after her princess. She crossed her hands over her chest and turned her head to look over her shoulder. "You seem to forget about how cruel the world outside is; it's not as easy as your father, servants, or teachers lead you to believe." The servant shook her head, narrowing her eyes. How had she gotten wrapped up in all of this?
"I think by now I would know that the world is tough, Serena," she growled as they walked in the forest. "But you can leave me at any time and see how fast they catch you again. I'm pretty sure I know my chances of survival, thank you very much!"
"It's about time," she scoffed, looking over her shoulder, grimacing. She hated this, the fear, the agitation that perhaps someone would leap out at them. If only she hadn't been too excited to jump the gun to get here. Then again, there would have been no way of her figuring out what was to happen. "If I wasn't bound by the promise I made to your father, trust me, I would gladly leave. They seem to want you, why would they want me?" Serena demanded, scowling at Alianna.

Alianna glared at her, then pushed her arms to sky, bringing it down towards the maze. You could hear screams and after a moment of yelling, silence. She then flicked her wrists lazily towards the maze and all the walls started moving inwards to crush the stragglers.
"Excellent, I'm sure doing that will not attract attention to us. We are trying to escape without being noticed, correct?" Serena frowned at Alianna, words spewing from her mouth without a second thought. It was a little nerve wracking that she was killing people willy-nilly, without a second thought to it.
Serena blinked and put a hand to her cheek, stunned. She let out a sharp humorless laugh. "Look at what a monster you've become. You've killed those people's lives, where you could've let them live inside the maze," she said, shaking her head. "It worries me that you're going to be the next queen. Let's just hope your father lives for a long time."
"I do what I must, Serena, to survive," she said calmly, though her eyes glowed with untamed fury. "I officially release you from your service to me. You may leave me now."
Serena gave her a sharp smile and a mock curtsy. "If the princess wants it, it must be so," she said bitterly. Without another word, she spun on her heel and walked deeper into the forest, her hands clasped in front of her.
Alianna didn't show any emotion when she said that but instead turned to look at the burning maze. She blinked and went in a slightly different direction.
Alianna was walking about five days later in the forest, quite unchanged except for the hem of her dress was muddy and torn. She heard the crack of a twig breaking and instantly conjured two flames, one in each hands. To be sure, the woods had made her reflexes sharper and her magic stronger.
Serena popped out of the dense cluster of trees, exhaustion in her eyes. Though something sparked as she saw it was Alianna. "Oh, it's you," she muttered, all of her energy having been erased. She raised her head, eyeing the two flames warily.
