An eyebrow quirked up, like she was surprised that Alianna had asked that. "Of course," she muttered, not wanting to admit anything, "just tired, that's all." Serena eyed the princess warily, even after the flames had gone out. Who knew what could trigger her in a time like this.
Serena opened her mouth, like she was going to say something, though closed it. Her shoulders slumped and she looked embarrassed. "I am too. What I said was unnecessary and I went to far. I...hope you can forgive me as well," she murmured, bowing to Alianna.
Serena stood up straight, though said nothing. She glanced around the forest, a grimace forming. "Yes, I figured that out as I was wandering around, without knowing where I was heading. I had been hoping to run into a town, though it seems like this forest won't end..."
Alianna looked up into the green leaves, her blue eyes calculating. "I have an idea," she said quietly. She put her arms by her side and closed her eyes, lifting her hands up. A piece of earth in a circle around her rose out of the ground and lifted her to the tree line. She crouched so nobody nearby could see her and looked in all directions. In the distance there was a beeak in the trees and she brought her hands to her armpits, pushing the earth back into the ground. "There is an end to the forest. I saw it in that direction," she said, pointing. "Do you want to... you know, stick together again?"
Would this work out in the end? They had gotten off to a bad start, well actually, it was Serena that had started all of this. She was still wary of the princess' powers, though she knew deep down that there was no way that she could get out without the two sticking together. "Sure. It would be good getting out of this forest and getting to a town with people who don't want to kill us." She managed a small smile.
(If/once they get to a town, perhaps the princess and a guy there could fall in love?)
(Well, remember she was going to find their kingdom in ruins and then keep wandering for a few years, taking odd jobs and the like until she gets hired at the castle of another kingdom. There she falls in love with the prince? )
Alianna smiled, then stopped. "I think we should lie low- you never know who Threuss might have working for him in these cities and towns."
(Oh right. Duh. This is why I need more sleep, I forget things easily... :/)
Serena nodded, looking over her shoulder, like she had expected his men to suddenly burst out of the forest. "Yeah, I guess walking into town dressed as we are would raise some eyebrows," she admitted.
(Yeah, I probably should. ^^ After this post I'll head to bed. Night. c:)
She ran a hand through her hair and grimaced. "How are we supposed to find something to cloth ourselves? We can't exactly stride into town. Besides, we don't have any money..."
(So sorry it took me this long to reply; I took my SAT test during the weekend and I crashed as soon as I got home... ^^;
Selena let out a sigh, sounding mentally exhausted. "Well, in any case, I guess we should start walking, if we want to be there before dark. We can figure out everything one our way there."
A small smile twitched up Selena's mouth. She glanced up at the stars, grimacing; her sense of direction was little to none, though now that there was darkness to factor in, Selena doubted she could get the two out of here unscathed. Letting out a sigh, the servant headed north, figuring that sooner or later, they would find a stream. Hopefully, following said stream would lead them to a town.
Selena shook her head, rubbing the back of her neck. "No, I haven't... That's what's bugging me; they should've found us by now," she muttered thoughtfully, rubbing her chin and frowning.
