Alianna bit her lip and then shrugged. "Thank you. Im done now so I will be going."

He let out a grunt, flicking his fingers. "Alright then, you are dismissed," he said, covering his eyes with his hand again.

The night they had escaped from that country was quick, silent, easy. Alianna rode a black stallion beside Serena as they rode towards the borders of Aquos.

Serena blinked her eyes blearily, stifling a yawn. "It'll be a little weird to get back home," she murmured, half to herself.

Alianna nodded. "Yeah. I've missed it a lot, though."

[mationix]

Serena chuckled dryly. "I would think so, now you can go back to being a princess; not a care in the world."

"You know I have things to care about," she protested, then stopped short. She noticed a large cloud of smoke hanging over where the castle would have been in the distance.

"Right, like what dresses to wear the next day," Serena teased, rolling her eyes. Though her smile faltered as she saw the castle. "Uh-oh."

Alianna kicked her horse and made it gallop towards te lonely hill. "No, no, no..." she murmured.

Serena was still for a moment, her mouth dry. Then she suddenly kicked her horse forward, it galloping after the princess. Could he have done this....?

The princess reached the castle hill in record time, slipping off the horse before it stopped running. Before her lay a great scene of destruction- blackened stones lay in heaps around the hill, ashes stirred with the breeze between them. Alianna sank to her knees, distraught clear in her face. "Father..." she moaned.

Serena jumped off of her horse and walked over to where Alliana sat. "I'm so sorry," she said, her voice quiet and hoarse. She shifted her weight from foot to foot, yanking on the horse's rein. "Shall we go a couple feet away to sleep?" She offered, not knowing if she wanted to sleep here or not.

Alianna just sat there, not replying as she clutched her head in her hands and cried silently. "Why, why, why..."

Serena shifted her weight from foot to foot, not knowing what to do in moments like this. She then put a hand on Alianna's shoulder. "Come on, we need to get away from here," she said.

Alianna shook her head and moved her shoulder in order to make her hand move. "No."

Serena gently yanked on her shoulder again. "Alianna, we need to go, we can't just stay here, we'll get found by whoever did this. This is the first place they'll look."

Alianna looked fiercely at her. "I said no. Nobody will be able to harm me."

Serena glared back. "Alianna, we are out in the open, people will see us. This is the first place they'll look, don't be ridiculous!"
