Will turned to the others and gestured them inside. He tiptoed in, lowering the baseball bat, "Did you check in any back rooms?" he whispered.

Allie shook her head. "No, but I didn't hear anything." Caroline shooed everyone inside while Adam closed the doors and checked the boarded-up windows.

Katherine tucked the pistol in the waistband of her pants and looked around, "This will do for a little while."

Caroline stayed sitting in front of the door, her gun still out. "I don't see why we can't stay here."

"Because it isn't protected enough here," Katherine glanced at her, frowning, "This place isn't the kind we'd want for permanent residence."

"Well, we can't just keep moving around. We have to find somewhere really safe, like a former military base or something.

Will nodded, "Yeah, there could be, like, weapons and stuff there too."

[~echo~]

"Maybe there are some survivors," Allie suggested, blinking. "They would probably find somewhere like that."

Katherine smiled, shrugging, "It's possible. Would be nice to see other living people."

(What state would you say that they're in?)

Caroline nodded. "Yeah," she murmured. Allie looked around, trying to imagine people other than her family.

(Hmmm...idk..Somewhere relatively urban)

"I'll go check out the back rooms," Katherine murmured, touching the back of her pistol as she walked toward the back doors.

(Would you say, like, Chicago?)

Caroline followed her, walking slowly and watching her with her gun still out.

Meanwhile, Allie sat down in a chair that was still standing and tapped her fingers on her knee.

Will sat down beside her and smiled, "I'm glad we made it here safe."

Katherine glanced back at Caroline and gestured for her to come closer.

Caroline glanced back at Will and Allie and then walked over to Katherine. "What's up?"

Allie nodded at Will. "Me too. That could have been disastrous."

"Check the back rooms with me," She suggested, pushing the door open wth one hand.

"Yeah, but we're all safe," He sounded relieved.

Caroline nodded agreement and followed, her gun in hand.

Allie smiled. "I hope they find some food," she said, referring to Caroline and Katherine. "I'm starving."

"It's a cafe," He said, trying to make light of the situation, "There should be food."

"If something jumps out, I swear," Katherien muttered.

Caroline gave a humorless chuckle. "Don't worry- I'll shoot it," she teased.

Allie nodded, feeling a bit stupid.

Katherine managed to chuckle, "Oh, thanks so much."

Will patted her hand, "Hopefully they have stuff that isn't bad."

Allie smiled at Will. "Maybe."

Caroline smiled as they continued down the small hallway, checking all the rooms. There didn't seem to be anything in any of the rooms but as they neared the last room, Caroline detected a small scratching sound.
