Katherine paused and pulled the gun out, readying it for fire. She put a finger to her lips and started toward the sound.

Caroline followed, her gun at the ready

She pushed open the door slowly, the only sound that of the door squeaking on it's hinges.

[~echo~]

A biter was in the room, seemingly freshly turned and hungry. It lunged at Katherine and Caroline shot it several times, hitting it with the butt of her gun to get it away from her leader.

Katherine was swift in acting, moving back so she wasn't in lunging range. She brought her pistol up, but didn't shoot until she had a clear head shot, one that would end the biter's existence.

Caroline let out a breath when the life of the biter was over. "I think that's it. Let's check out this room for some food."

Katherine nodded, "Yeah, okay."

Caroline walked inside the room and looked around. There were boxes of food, unperishable foods, and also a bunch of water bottles.

"Thank goodness," She sighed happily, tucking the pistol into her belt.

[~echo~]

"The kids'll be happy," Caroline joked. "Lets find a can opener, too, so we can eat this stuff."

She nodded, rooting through the boxes to find out what thy had. Katherine felt an odd sense of responsibility to her group now, like she needed to make sure they were fed, safe and healthy. She'd always been a motherly person, though, so it wasn't too surprising.

"Here's some bread," Caroline said, "and some canned fruit. We can use a club or something to pound it open."

"I have a knife that we could use to pry it open," Katherine suggested.

[~echo~]

"Sounds good," she agreed. "Let's get some more and bring it to the others." She, too, felt Katherine's feeling of responsibility for the family which, in its turn, might create some issues.

Katherine began to collect the boxes of food, keeping a mental checklist of what they had.

Caroline helped her, carrying half of the food. She then led the way towards the rest of the group.

Will hopped up to help them, taking a box with a smile, "There was food?"

[~echo~]

Allie followed Will to help Caroline. "Yeah," said Caroline, "and enough to last us about two weeks if we are sparing."

"That's great news," Will smiled, looking to Allie, "Better than nothing."

[~echo~]

"Yes, much better than nothing," Allie agreed, sifting through a few boxes of food.
