Hareena coughed and spat out blood onto the floor. Not a good sign. She wobbled to her knees and kept pressing the wound, "W-Why?"

Their eyes went from her to Cassel. "He's dangerous. His ability can't be allowed to exist in this world."

"C-Cassel won't hurt anyone," She pointed at the person, "You, on the other hand, are a different story."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"You don't know what's coming," the person hissed. "There will be pain and death. He must die, but you don't have to go with him."

She shook her head, forcing herself to stand, "I won't let you. Y-You aren't taking him away from me."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Look at him," they said, and Cassel could hear the sneer in their voice. "He's already half-dead. So are you. It's time to give up." Before she could respond, they turned and sprang at Cassel. He shouted and swiped at them with the knife, but the person was too fast. They dodged out of the way and spun around, delivering a swift kick to Cassel's side.

"No!" Hareena lunged forward and wrapped her blood-stained hand in the stranger's hair, tugging them back with a grunt of anger and pain.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Cassel fell to the ground, too weak to stay on his feet. His head hit the concrete floor, knocking him out cold. Meanwhile, the person's head jerked back and they yelled. Light flashed over their face, but not long enough to reveal their features.

Hareena yanked harder, wrenching the person backwards with her, away from Cassel's body.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Let go, you fool!" they hissed. "This isn't about you." The frustration was clear in their voice.

"But it's about him and I can't let you do this," She spoke through gritted teeth and stuck her foot out, kicking the person in the back of the leg.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Their knee buckled and hit the ground, sending pain through their leg. In one last-ditch effort, they rolled to the side and struck out with their leg, knocking Hareena's feet out from under her. Moving with nearly inhuman agility, they caught sprang to their feet and knelt down with their knee on Hareena's chest. Somehow they had a dagger in their hand, either a third one or one of the others, somehow retrieved in the chaos. They pressed the blade to Hareena's throat and looked down at her, their face still shadowed. "You love him," they stated. "Interesting."

Hareena's throat moved as she swallowed, her sapphire eyes staring intently, trying to see the stranger's face, "I do," her answer was low, as though she was afraid any louder might make the blade cut through her skin.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

They didn't move for a few long seconds. Then there was the briefest hesitation, where the knife's pressure against her throat lessened.

Hareena took that opportunity and smashed her head back into the stranger's face. She spun and grabbed the knife, ignoring the bite of the blade in her hand.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

The person didn't resist. They just let Hareena attack them. They hadn't expected a love interest, and for some reason they couldn't bring themselves to kill him knowing that someone loved him. It was stupid--they were an assassin, a cold-blooded killer--but there it was.

She yanked the knife from their grip and spun it around, slashing the blade at them with a grunt of panic.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

The blade sliced their cheek. They hissed in pain, but as the blood gushed down their face and fell onto their clothes, they simply knelt down and bowed their head. "Do it. And make it quick."

Hareena stared at them, the knife poised by their throat. Her sapphire eyes were wide, though they didn't meet the stranger's, "I..can't.." she murmured.

(Maybe I should actually create this character... They seem interesting lol)

They lifted their head. There was a moment of silence, then they said, "Well then. What now?"
