Hareena gasped in pain, her body screaming in outrage. She pulled her hand back and smashed her fist into the person's face.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

The person grunted and tried to block their face in case she threw another punch.

"Hareena!" Cassel shouted. "Knife!"

Hareena looked up, her sapphire eyes finding the knife right away. Reaching for it, she pinned her knees against the stranger's shoulders, attempting to keep them from escaping.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Cut me loose!" Cassel gasped. The person struggled, but was unable to throw Hareena off.

She fumbled for his ropes, her hands shaking with exertion, "I-I'm trying.."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Cassel gritted his teeth and tried to shift closer to her. Before she could reach him, though, the person drove their elbow back into Hareena's chest.

Hareena's eyes widened and she sputtered in pain, the pressure jostling the knife still buried in her stomach. She gasped and rolled off of them, sliding the knife over to Cassel.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Cassel caught the knife in his tied hands and shoved it between the rope and his wrists. The blade cut into his skin, but he grit his teeth and started sawing the rope.

"You idiots," the person said as they got to their feet. "You're just going to make this harder. You could both die an easy death if you just give in."

She glared through the pain, one hand pressed around the edge of the knife, "I'd rather fight until the end." Hareena spat.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Cassel broke free just as the person launched themself at Hareena. He slid to the side and tripped them, but their hand snaked out and yanked the knife from Hareena's stomach as they fell.

[нαℓƒ~мσση]

She screamed, pressing her hands over the wound and curling onto her side. The pain shocked her, hitting her system like a bolt of electricity.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Cassel screamed and drove his knife down into the person. He didn't really aim, just stabbed at a random spot. They screamed when the knife sunk into their chest, but drove their fist up into Cassel's chin.

Hareena pulled one hand away and it came slick with blood. Her vision went hazy and she groaned, forcing her eyes to focus. Now wasn't the time to let her body give up.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Cassel shouted as his head snapped back. He'd never really been in pain before, certainly not this much. He let go of the knife as he fell backward, wincing when his hands hit the ground and put strain on his wrists. Their attacker pulled the knife from their chest--it had narrowly missed their heart and anything else important. Bad luck on Cassel's part.

Her gaze flicked to them and she rolled to her knees, lunging toward the person.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

They shouted in frustration and swiped the knife at her. This was supposed to be an easy job, an easy kill. It wasn't supposed to have gone this way.

[нαℓƒ~мσση]

The blade caught her on the cheek, tearing through the skin easily. Hareena hissed and smacked her hand into the person's wrist, pushing the knife away.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Once again, the knife slid across the floor. Cassel staggered to his feet. He grabbed the person by their coat and pulled them away from Hareena.

[нαℓƒ~мσση]

"Be c-careful!" Hareena gasped out, her gaze locked on Cassel. One hand pressed against the wound on her belly, the other curled against the ground.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"This is enough!" Cassel shouted. He walked over to the knife while the person struggled to get back up. All of them were beaten up pretty bad, but their attacker was gushing blood from their chest wound. Cassel turned toward him and held the knife at the ready. "Why are you doing this?"

"It has to be done," they said.
