Reagan smiled, Marnie's response was so different than the one she would have given. She would have complained, asked a million questions, and guessed until she was given the answer. She loved surprises, but she had the patience of a toddler.
Reagan pulled into the parking lot for a restaurant called South Street Beach. The entire side of the building had a beach scene with the Hudson River Bridge in the background with the name written in the sand.
Reagan walked beside her. "I hope so." She opened the door to the restaurant. The inside was a sleek, modern setting with hanging lights, dimmed to give it a more intimate atmosphere. There were framed beach scenes hanging along the walls consisted of photographs and painting with both realism and modern takes.
"Well, it should be. It took long enough to get this place ready for its grand opening." Reagan said without thinking, not realizing that Marnie wouldn't know that she was one of the part-owners of the restaurant, along with a few other current and retired firefighters.
"About six years." Reagan said after mentally counting the years. "But, to be fair, we had to rebuild half the infrastructure due to a fire that closed the original restaurant."
"I'm one of the three people that own this place." Reagan answered. "The two retired firefighters that own this place with me needed another investor, so i offered." She walked over to the hostess and, who greeted Reagan warmly, before leading them to their table.
"How would you? I don't see the point in flaunting the fact. I'm not looking to become a entrepreneur. I'm not a chef. And, I find firefighter to be a more accurate representation of...myself." Reagan offered with a shrug.
