He followed after her, watching the sky for a moment, before glancing back down at the ground. They had a couple more hours until the sun started to set. As long as nothing interfered with them getting to Tante Emma's place, they would be fine.
Zach settled a couple feet away from Annaliese, taking the pole of his shoulder and setting it across his lap. "You're gonna love Tante Emma, she's the sweetest person I know," he said, his voice dry from exhaustion, "I'm sure she'll accept you with open arms, bless her soul, when I'm done explainin' to her your condition"
He gave her a shrug. "Like I said before, I highly doubt she'll be bothered if you stay at her house for a couple months. Though I'm sure she'll be wantin' you to work while you're there, carry your own weight around the house."
He clapped his hands together, before rising to his feet. "Excellent, now that you know that, you're bound to bloom at Tante Emma's place. She has a knack for having a positive attitude," Zach said, grabbing his pole and placing it against his shoulder again. He held out his hand to her, before continuing, "We should probably head out again. It'll be over quickly though, trust me."
Zach chuckled and pulled her up. "Alright, alright. Calm down, we'll be there soon," he said, letting his hand drop from her and starting off. "Over there, you see that home?" He asked, pointing towards a hill in the near distance. A roof of a house was poking over the top of the hill, looking like it was slowly cracking and deteriorating.
"That's exactly it, ma'am," Zach replied cheerily, setting off again. "Tante Emma might need a bit of help workin' around in the kitchen, she's been workin' real hard recently. I worry that she's goin' to work herself to death." He shook his head, his voice faltering, as his eyebrows pinched together in worry.
As they finally reached the top of the hill, Zach slowed down, panting as he sucked in breaths of air. "Welcome ma'am, welcome to my home," he said, dropping her hand and raising his hand, gesturing at the house. It was a rustic house, built of wood, not of the usual brick. Surprisingly, it was painted a bright pink, shining in the sunlight. A large awning covered the porch, shuddering in the breeze.
