Alexander walked into the kitchen, his slightly loose pants falling down to expose his black boxers. He grunted in slight irritation and lifted them back up, grabbing his orange juice and a piece of pie after stuffing his phone into his pocket (which also weighed down his pants a bit) and headed to the library to do some light reading while he waited. He knew Colden was used to him always being around, but... He figured he would want some alone time right now, in order to learn more information about his parents killers.
Going over the information took well over an hour and Colden and Ezekiel were not seen for quite a while. It was almost unnerving, because Colden was always in everyone else's business.
But finally, when they emerged, he wasn't his usual bright-faced self. In fact, he looked rather grim. The warlock wasn't chipper either, though he didn't have a personal connection with what they were researching.
Alexander was sitting in an oversized leather arm chair, his legs crossed Indian-style as he read a large leather-bound book with faded pages. He looked up at the sound of someone entering the room and blinked large blue eyes of innocence and surprise. "Did you find anything out?" he asked as he tilted his head. His plate of pie had been set on a cover in between the wood nightstand and the plate bottom and his cup was rested in between his legs.
"Possibly," Cole's voice was rough and quiet as he wandered over to him. It was obvious that he was thinking of something because his brows were furrowed, creating a little wrinkle between them.
Ezekiel paused, thinking how to phrase his words before he spoke, "We may have found someone who knows the demon."
His eyebrows furrowed and he blinked up at him, frowning. "Well then shouldn't you feel happy about that? You've found them. Now all we have to do is interrogate."
Alexander unconsciously seemed to gravitate toward Colden, resting his elbow on his knee and humming as he plopped his chin into his open hand. "Well... What's his name?"
"Ironically, his name is Alexander," The corners of his lips quirked into a smile and he poked his parabatai's forehead, "You're not secretly a vampire, are you, Xan?"
"Well, we know he does live here in New York, which is helpful. But you know that vampires always travel in clans. He definitely won't be on his own," Colden murmured, blue eyes narrowing. He ran a hand through his blonde hair, making it stick up a little.
"That just makes this all the more dangerous for you." The warlock hummed.
Alexander hummed and brushed his fingertips along Colden's cheek before immediately retracting his hand. Bad move. "Because you look like a cockatoo with your hair like that. But considering seriously for a moment... Colden, do you really think going after these demons is a good idea? Or going after this vampire? I have a feeling..." He frowned.
Colden fell silent, reaching up to touch his hair while he thought about it, "I have to, Xan. I'll never be able to live peacefully if I don't.." he admitted softly, looking down at his lap.
Ezekiel watched the brief sentimental exchange between them. The easiness of it made him think that they were used to interacting that way. Something stirred in the warlock's gut, but he chose to ignore it.
Alexander let out a worried breath but nodded, wrapping his arms hesitantly around his waist (seeing as Colden was sitting above him) and hugged him reassuringly. "...Ok then. We'll go after them."
He was already looking down, so when Alexander's head/face came into his line of sight, Cole smiled. He rested one hand on the back of Xander's neck- his way of returning the hug from his position, "Thank you," he murmured to his parabatai. Having Xan there to help him through this was a big relief to Colden.
The blonde looked up at Ezekiel after a moment, "Thanks for the info. You don't have to, like, go with us or anything. I think Xander and I can handle ourselves."
Alexander turned his head a bit, still pressed against the male's stomach, and looked at Ezekiel with curiosity and confusion. He was still freaked out beyond belief about the vivid dreams he kept having of the warlock.
He seemed to subconsciously cling to Colden. Having a warlock in the mix would just make things more dangerous, simply because he had fought with his parabatai for years now. He hadn't fought with a warlock in... ever.
