Apparently the closeness didn't bother Colden, because he didn't ask for Xander to move away. His hand still rested against his neck, fingers curled slightly around his shirt. It was a comfortably familiar position.
Alexander continued to look up into Colden's eyes, lips parted slightly in wonder before his gaze flicked down to the blonde's lips and back up to his eyes again.
Ezekiel strode over to another chair and plopped down, figuring that it was pointless to stand around since it was obvious that the Shadowhunters didn't seem to be moving any time soon.
Colden, who wasn't looking Alexander directly in the face, chose this moment to glance over at his parabatai. He blinked his eyes for a moment, before tilting his head, "What?"
Alexander continued to fidget. Great, now the guy was even closer than before. That did /not/ help his situation! A soft whine escaped his throat and he continued to look up at him before he could no longer contain himself and kissed him. Yeah, it was a really stupid idea and he'd probably be pushed away and shunned for a million years or more because of how stupid and selfish he was, but he couldn't help it. You try being a centimeter away from your crush! Yeah, it's hard, isn't it?!
Colden froze, more out of surprise than anything else. First Alexander hadn't said anything and now, he was kissing him! Not the response he expected. But...it was Xan. His Xan, his parabatai. So, no matter what, Colden knew that he could never be disgusted by him or anything like that.
Sensing his frozen posture, fear created an ice claw around his heart. Yep, just as he presumed. Colden would freak out and shun him forever. Alexander resisted the urge to sigh and run away, instead choosing to back away from him slowly.
"/That/ was not what I was expecting when I asked you what you were looking at," Colden said after a moment, though his tone was light and not at all angry or upset.
"Mhm." He hummed, turning the page of his book. Fine then. If he wasn't going to reciprocate feelings, that's alright with him. Sure, it hurt, but they were still friends.
Colden frowned, "Xander, come on. You haven't really given me any time to think about this. Right now isn't exactly a time that I can consider it." He glanced up at Ezekiel as if to prove his point.
"Hmm, what?" Alexander lifted his gaze, lips parted and eyes round as he looked up at him. "What did you say?" He blinked. "...Sorry, I got lost." He gestured to his book.
