Kumogakure was a hard village to live in; if one wasn't able to fight, one would die. It was survival of the fittest in some areas of the canyon-like village. The Raikage, a man who had risen to the position after his predecessor retired from old age, had started implementing changes--some of them with force. A lot of people didn't like him because of the new rules; especially the mercenaries, that were hit the hardest. Hiring people that were not shinobi was no longer looked-over within the land; which meant that the mercenary guilds were forcefully disbanded. They started to form groups though, in retaliation, that would attack areas within the village; and most of the time they were dealt with quickly before there were too many casualties. Tonight though, there had been a slack in security due to the festival celebrating the change of season.
They attacked when most of the attention was on the bright lights; taking out small families that were suspected or known supporters of the Raikage. The small academy student, Shiho, and her family were no exception, as men bared down on them in the night.
